One less cog at the front means less weight and less maintenance but also makes changing gears more intuitive as fewer choices help you get the one you want quicker. The Subway 1 now comes with a bigger, 8-speed cassette at the back wheel, so you've still got those important choices at the top and bottom end of the range.

Sometimes, less is definitely more! Weighing in at just 14kg, the Carrera Subway's lightweight aluminium frame does a great job of keeping the bike's overall weight down, helping you to cycle further for longer. We've made the bike slightly higher at the front end, giving a more upright and comfortable riding position. Along with the flat handlebars, most cyclists find this a great combination for maintaining great visibility of the road ahead.

Carrera Bikes

Carrera Subway Bikes

Carrera Subway Bikes are a popular range of entry level rigid hybrids made by Carrera, featuring alloy frames, 16 Speed Tourney Groupsets, Disc Brakes and 27.5" wheels on sale for around £330. The majority of Subway bikes sold are the well received adult hybrids, which are available in both genders and also a junior version. In recent years, Carrera have added an E-Bike to the Subway line up, priced at just over the £1000 mark. The early incarnations of the Subway series featured V-Brakes, but these have been superseded by Disc Brakes in recent years. Essentially what you are getting with a Carrera Subway bike is reliable urban cycling on a budget, with little maintenance required.
