Protection, in cycling terms, covers everything from elbow, ankle, knee and shin pads, as well as more heavy duty items designed to prevent serious injury to your neck and spine. Essentially it has two purposes - the first being the obvious; to offer support and covering to the areas of your body which most likely to be prone to injury in the event of a crash. Secondly, they need to be practical to pedal in - wrapping yourself in bubble wrap might make you 100% safe, but it definitely won't be practical to ride in! I won't claim to have every item listed, but I do try to keep my cycling protection section stocked up with the latest deals, so hopefully there might be an item or two which can help save your poor battered body next time you stack it! Oh and here's my helmet page if you're after protective headwear instead.
